To all NCSSA Managers and Players:
At the recent NCSSA Annual meeting on December 7th, those present reviewed the rule changes that SSUSA is going to implement beginning in 2025. One rule, in particular, could have a major impact.
In an effort to strengthen the rules concerning bat safety, regulations are being expanded as follows:
In addition to any type of shaving or reworking of bats to try and hit the ball further/harder, the use of any type of bat warmer will prohibited starting in 2025. This rule covers everything from the plastic sleeves that hang in the sun to portable heating devices.
BE SURE TO LEAVE YOUR BAT WARMERS AT HOME FOR SSUSA EVENTS! DO NOT BRING THEM TO THE FIELD.
Penalty for the use of bat warmers is the same as for shaved bats – suspension for up to 10 years.
Now for the positive news!!!!
Managers at the NCSSA annual meeting voted NOT to accept this rule.
Therefore, the use of bat warmers will continue to be considered acceptable at NCSSA tournaments. Players/teams who participate in SSUSA tournaments will have to remember to leave the bat warmers at home.
