Early this morning, Bob Hunter peacefully passed away with his wife and hospice by his side after a lengthy battle with a terrible illness.. Bob knew the end was near and was getting his affairs in order. This included writing his own biography/obituary which is attached below. This was a classic Bob Hunter move.
Everyone who knew Bob respected his softball talent, his personal skills, his friendship and his overall good-guy spirit. Bob was the person you wanted on your team, both for his softball knowledge and ability, but also because he was a classic teammate. He made any team he was on a notch or two better than without him. His smile and personality were contagious.
I was blessed to know Bob for the twelve years we lived in Lincoln Hills. The league now has a big hole in it. Bob fought his terrible illness bravely and without complaint. His life should be celebrated, and his memory will live on forever. Rest in peace, kind and gentle man, strong and fierce competitor, and loyal and respected friend.
