Carl Woodruff, 86, passed away on January 31, 2023 at his home. Carl was an important figure in the history of the Redwood City Señors and senior softball in general. He began senior softball in 1986 when he turned 50.
Carl was a weekly participant in local play, almost always on a tournament team including the Chiefs, a willing manager of the Chiefs as well as other teams, and active in everything in the Redwood City Club. He played with all his heart and ability. Illness in recent years finally stopped his ability to safely play, but he was a regular visitor to the fields and enjoyed many friends who always enjoyed talking with him or going out to lunch. He had a phenomenal memory for players in the past.
Carl was briefly on hospice after two hospitalizations in early January, and passed away with his wife, Jeannie, at home. His two sons and one daughter were able to be present in January as well. There are no services planned at this time, but there may be an outdoor celebration of life event in the Spring or Summer in Redwood City especially for his many softball buddies.
