Edward Sherrod
Born August 15, 1946 – Departed June 28, 2019
Ed was coaching two slow pitch softball teams, with the Suisun City Recreation Dept., one competitive and the other for something to do on a Friday night. One of the more senior players told him about Senior Softball (NCSSA), that it was fun, held on weekends in different parks throughout Northern California. Ed made some inquiries and in February 1996, The Solano Senior Enforcers prior known as The Enforcers was born. Twenty three years later, the team is still on the road, travelling to familiar parks and searching for new places to play.
Ed truly loved being with the team, and was looking forward to resume playing next year. His spirit was sometimes down, when he couldn’t play, but would show up for practice at times on Tuesday, and the bonding afterwards, weather had to be 70 for him to appear. He will be missed by his softball family, loved ones and friends.
A casual Celebration of Life will be held on July 26, 2019, 11:00 am at Fairfield Funeral Home, 1750 Pennsylvania Ave, Fairfield, CA, a private reception will follow.
