Presidents Message

The 2017 NCSSASeason is coming to a close. In many ways it was a successful year. Nearly 2000 senior players played in some 34 tournaments. Two of every three teams won at least one NCSSA tournament. We had ten tournaments cancelled due to rain or scheduling conflicts.

This year also was a very trying year. We lost some good people and their family members. One great loss was the September 6th death of longtime player, manager, umpire and Board member Dean Perkins. Dean served almost twenty years as a NCSSA Board member. He will be truly missed.

Also, some of our players and their families lost their homes and property in the Northern California fires. We send our prayers and condolences to them and their loved ones.

Our tournament directors once again did an outstanding job. NCSSA invites anyone interested to consider putting on a tournament. The NCSSA Scheduling Committee is currently accepting requests. Gary Tryhorn chairs this committee which will be accepting tournament date requests now through December 1st.

Our NCSSA Board also encourages managers and players to attend the annual General Meeting Saturday December 2nd at the Manteca City Council Chambers. Many issues related to this next season will be discussed and voted upon. This is an important meeting and all are invited to attend and participate.

In closing, let me say I am proud to be a member of this organization. NCSSA is governed and run by many volunteers who unselfishly devote their efforts to making this the best senior softball organization in the West. Have a safe and productive season in 2018.

Bob Fernandez
NCSSA President
